USA TODAY Co. is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Commerce Editor, Partnerships to lead the execution of partner-driven affiliate content across the USA TODAY Network. This editor will be responsible for writing, editing, and assigning content tied to key partnerships and revenue opportunities-ensuring high-quality editorial output that delivers measurable performance for partners and aligns with USA TODAY's standards. This role reports to the Editorial Director of Shopping.
This role sits at the center of editorial, revenue, and distribution-working closely with the content monetization team, business development, and newsroom partners to execute campaigns that drive audience engagement and positive return on investment (ROI) for partners.
The ideal candidate is both an editor and a strategist: someone who understands how to create service-driven content that converts, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated by performance and impact.
What You'll Do
Write, edit, and assign affiliate and partner-driven content across a range of verticals, ensuring quality, accuracy, and alignment with editorial standards
Own end-to-end execution of partnership campaigns, from concept through publication and performance optimization
Collaborate with the content monetization and business development teams to execute contracted partnerships and deliver on campaign goals
Ensure all partner content achieves strong performance benchmarks, including traffic, engagement, and revenue outcomes
Work closely with newsroom editors and audience teams to coordinate distribution strategies and maximize reach across the USA TODAY Network
Identify opportunities to optimize existing content and partnerships using data, trends, and performance insights
Develop scalable editorial workflows for partner content, improving speed, efficiency, and consistency
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across editorial, product, marketing, and revenue teams
Ensure all content meets ethical, editorial, and brand standards while balancing commercial objectives
Track and report on content performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve ROI and partner satisfaction
What We're Looking For
3-6 years of experience in digital media, editorial, affiliate content, or commerce-focused roles
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience producing service-driven or shopping-related content
Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance content creation, editing workflows, and performance optimization while maintaining editorial integrity and standards
Demonstrated experience working with affiliate programs, sponsored content, or brand partnerships
Understanding of performance metrics such as conversions, click-through rate, and revenue per article
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including editorial, business development, and audience
Deep familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously
Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable editorial decisions
Experience with CMS platforms, affiliate tools, and analytics platforms is a plus
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $50,500 and $78,906. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
