The Compliance Technology Team at Coinbase plays a critical role in achieving our mission. Compliance Technology designs, builds and maintains complex systems at a global scale to meet BSA/AML regulations with industry best practices. Within the Compliance Technology - KYC team, we are building KYC technology, Customer Risk Rating models, and internal and external reports and dashboards to support our Compliance processes and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should have strong data analytics, SQL, Python, and data visualization skills. In addition, the candidate should have working knowledge of BSA/AML compliance, KYC and customer risk rating. Software engineering experience in Compliance will be a big plus.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Build Compliance systems and infrastructure working in a cross-functional dynamic environment
- Use your strong technical skills to build and enhance KYC Customer Risk Scoring models
- Investigate issues, fix production bugs and build enhancements requested by end-users in the Compliance and Operations teams
- Writing clear documentation which can be reviewed by regulators and external examiners
- Working to a deadline to deliver accurate reports and dashboards
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver solutions
- Design and build self-service dashboards and reports, including the use of visualizations
- Produce Data Extracts for Compliance stakeholders
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Minimum 2 years of technology experience in a data analytics or a systems engineering role at a large consulting, financial institution, technology or a financial technology firm
- Excellent programming skills; strong Python, Go and/or other programming language skills
- Prior development experience in Legal, Compliance and/or Risk products or services
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment; prior experience in a start-up or high growth environment will be a plus
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC): requirements development, system design, development, testing and production launch. Software engineering experience will be a big plus
- Ability to successfully collaborate in a cross-functional environment
- Data-driven approach to problem solving
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (including writing formal documentation)
- A quick learner and a team player who enjoys building and doing hands-on work
- Keen interest in learning about crypto and building innovative solutions
Nice to haves:
- Excellent analytical skills; strong SQL skills
- Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau, Redash and Looker (moved from What we look for)
- Prior development experience in KYC and Risk Rating
- Prior experience with GitHub
- Knowledge of cryptocurrencies will be a big plus but not a prerequisite.
- Model Validation and working with external examinations
- Knowledge of Agile Methodologies, including SCRUM
