We’re Hiring: Data Governance Tech Lead
Location: Portugal Work Arrangement: Remote
We’re looking for a Data Governance Tech Lead to join a team focused on defining and evolving data governance, compliance, and information management practices in enterprise environments.
This role will play a central part in implementing data governance frameworks, defining standards, and fostering alignment between business and technology teams, ensuring data quality, transparency, and compliance across the organization.

About the Opportunity
As a Data Governance Tech Lead, you will be responsible for leading data governance initiatives and promoting best practices in management and compliance throughout the organization.
You will collaborate with technical and business teams to define policies, standards, and processes that ensure data quality, security, and responsible use.
You will also play an active role in developing governance strategies related to modern data platforms and AI/ML initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead data governance initiatives across business and technology teams;
Define, document, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and frameworks;
Collaborate with stakeholders to align governance processes with business objectives and regulatory requirements;
Manage and optimize governance workflows using ITSM and collaboration platforms;
Support the implementation and maintenance of data catalogs, metadata, and data registries;
Ensure compliance with regulations and governance frameworks;
Promote data quality, consistency, and accountability;
Contribute to governance strategies for AI/ML solutions and the responsible use of data.
What We’re Looking For
At least 4 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Compliance;
Proven experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders;
Experience documenting policies, schemas, and processes using tools such as Confluence, Notion, or Miro;
Knowledge of ITSM and workflow management platforms (ServiceNow or Jira);
Experience with data registry and data management tools (Airtable or similar);
Familiarity with regulatory and governance frameworks (GDPR, NIST, ISO 42001);
Knowledge of data catalog and metadata management platforms;
Excellent communication skills and fluent English (spoken and written).
The following will be valued:
Experience with governance frameworks applied to AI/ML and Responsible AI;
Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud ecosystems;
Experience in enterprise transformation initiatives related to governance;
Strong analytical skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
