Responsibilities

This individual will provide data analytics / data governance support to the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) U.S Border Patrol (USBP) Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate (SPAD) Advance Analytics & Data Governance (AA&DG) Division.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Develops experimental and analytical research for data analysis, use effective baselines, and accurately determine potential cause and effect relations.
  • Leads performing analysis in Python.
  • Frames and scales data problems to analyze, visualize, and find data solutions.
  • Manipulates common data formats, including comma-delimited, text files, and JSON.
  • Transforms data and analysis into informative visualizations and interactive dashboards using open-source and commercially available visualization and dashboard tools.
  • Derives insights and analytic narratives from data and visualizations for effective storytelling and clear communication in response to research questions.
  • Develops experimental and analytical research for data analysis, use effective baselines, and accurately determine potential cause and effect relations.
  • Works in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented environment focused on client deliverables, analysis, and reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related business or quantitative discipline
  • 1-5 years of experience required
  • Stays current on best practice in the statistical field, including methodologies and statistical concepts.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL; preferred qualifications include linking analytic and data visualization products to database connections
  • Preferred experience with:

    Microsoft Azure

    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

    Microsoft Power BI

    Microsoft SharePoint

    Microsoft Power Automate

    Microsoft PowerApps

  • Preferred experience with timeseries data
  • Broad knowledge of ML methods, statistical analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Previous work with CBP and/or USBP is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

This position allows for partial telework with the ability to work virtually and travel to client site in the DC Metro area as required.

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a comprehensive government security investigation must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information. The background investigation includes financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, and employment verifications. US citizenship required

  • Highly Preferred: Active/Full U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI
  • This position is contingent upon completion of CBP BI
