What’s the opportunity?

Deployment engineers are responsible for implementing and deploying technical solutions for Smoothwall school, colleges and academy trusts.. They work closely with customers to understand their needs and ensure that the solution is tailored to meet those needs. In addition to technical expertise, these engineers also have a strong focus on customer service and customer experience. They strive to ensure that the implementation process is smooth and seamless for the customer, providing support and guidance throughout. Their goal is to ensure that the customer has a positive experience with the product and is satisfied with the end result.

Here's how you'll do it :

  • Collaborating with project managers, developers, and other team members to plan and execute technical implementation projects.

  • Conducting technical assessments and analysis to determine the best approach for implementing solutions.

  • Configuring and customizing software applications and systems to meet the specific needs of the organization.

  • Testing and troubleshooting technical solutions to ensure they are functioning correctly and meeting the requirements of the project.

  • Providing technical support and guidance to end users and stakeholders during the implementation process.

  • Documenting technical processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and integration of technical solutions.

  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to continuously improve technical implementation processes.

  • Communicating with stakeholders, including management, clients, and vendors, to provide updates on project progress and address any issues or concerns.

  • Participating in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

  • From time-to-time you will need to work in our Support Team to improve learning and development

Overall, a deployment engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of technical solutions within a school, college or Academy Trust. Their day-to-day activities involve a combination of technical skills, project management, communication, and problem-solving abilities to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of the organization.

Requirements

What you'll bring:

  • Experience working in schools, colleges or other education institutions.
  • UK driving license and own transport.
  • 2 years previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous web filter and or on-premise solutions experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field: a bachelor's degree in a technical field for Deployment Engineer positions.
  • Relevant certifications: certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Project Management Professional (PMP)

Strong technical background: A solid understanding of technical concepts, systems, and applications is essential for a Deployment Engineer. This includes knowledge of programming languages, networking, databases, and operating systems.

Customer service skills: Deployment Engineers often work directly with customers to implement new systems or applications. Therefore, strong customer service skills are important in order to effectively communicate with clients and address their needs.
