Paper Giant uses design and technology to help organisations understand, imagine and change.
As Design Researcher, you will play an active role in project delivery on key client accounts. You will help conduct user and organisational research as part of a team of experienced practitioners, and use your design skills to help clients solve complex problems.
You will work with experienced practitioners to deliver high quality design and research outcomes for clients in government, not-for-profit, and private sectors.

Working as part of a team, you will:
- Articulate the difference between design research and other research approaches
- Uncover user and business needs and requirements using appropriate design research methods
- Tackle design and research problems that range from concise and well defined, to the murky and ambiguous
- Translate research data into practical and technically feasible product and service recommendations
- Map and represent, in a variety of formats, complex systems and processes
- Co-facilitate workshops and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders to realise product and service visions
- Produce high-quality outputs that help others understand the implications of your research
Advocacy, knowledge and leadership
- Stay aware of industry trends, including policy and technology developments, in order to identify opportunities for Paper Giant’s business and practice
- Attend industry events to gain exposure to new and different ways of thinking, and share this with colleagues to help advance knowledge and practice
- Help us design and build a positive, collaborative, inclusive studio culture
Requirements
- 2+ years experience working in a human-centred design field with research responsibilities
- Experience designing, organising and conducting qualitative research projects with support
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working on design projects with multi-disciplinary teams
- Basic understanding of different design and research disciplines and their application
- Sketching, and design production skills (including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop/Sketch)
- Communication Design skills - ability to tailor design outputs and communication to client needs and context
