Job Description

Severn Trent Connect is a rapidly growing statutory wastewater company (NAV), working closely with its clients to unlock land for development by addressing water quality challenges. We combine technical knowledge and extensive experience in the water industry with an adaptive, client-focussed approach.

Presently, much of our work is situated in Southeast England, however we are looking to grow our presence across the rest of England and Wales. We have offices in Canterbury and Coventry. This is a home-based role with access to flexible working arrangements as our work will take you on the road.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As our Developer Services Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our business growth plans over the coming years by taking ownership of our Developer Services functions, from the first contact to adoption and maintenance of assets.

To do this, you’ll take ownership of our guidance and standards for network assets – including sewers, SUDS, and pumping stations, to ensure that our requirements are communicated effectively to our clients. Once a development enters the construction phase you will inspect the assets constructed by our clients to ensure that assets offered for adoption are in line with our standards and fit-for-purpose.

Additionally, you’ll also work with our Operations and Asset Management function to ensure that our adopted network assets are managed effectively throughout their entire lifecycle.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead the Developer Services Team and evaluate technical design-and-build information of sewers and complex wastewater assets provided by our clients.
  • Develop standards and processes to ensure the assets we adopt are fit for purpose, comply with all applicable civil engineering standards, and works conducted safely.
  • Respond to clients and their consultants on technical queries relating to common themes including use of statutory powers, drainage standards, Water Industry Act, and land rights.
  • Plan and coordinate the fulfilment of Section 98 sewer requisitions, and administer statutory and client-facing documentation.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To do this role at its best you’ll be familiar with the design, construction, and associated costs of civil engineering projects, which include works such as in-situ and precast, concrete, structural brickwork, pipe, culvert laying, deep excavation, temporary works, and reinstatement.

You’ll also have the ability to understand and interrogate submitted drawings, plans, and cross-sections and to discuss them with consultants, site staff and ground workers.

It would also be ideal, but not essential if you had previous experience in structural and hydraulic design of sewerage systems and an awareness of wastewater treatment and/or complex sewerage assets such as pumping stations.

As travelling is required, you’ll also have to hold a full U.K driving license.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities we serve.

With that in mind, here are just some of our favourite's perks that you’ll get being part of the Seven Trent family:

  • Salary range of £42,710 - £52,611
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays ( and the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year)
  • Annual bonus scheme of up to 15% of your annual salary, (based on company performance, eligible from 2024)
