EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW  

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Finance team as a Senior Financial Controller (Opex), where you will provide financial rigour and control over the operating costs budget, actuals and forecast for our two largest areas within the business (Customer Operations and Customer Solutions). The role will report into the Head of Finance for Operations, operating as a trusted partner to ensure we make the best long term decisions for the business.

This is a critical role within the Finance Leadership team and offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders. This opportunity also comes at a critical time as we transform our operating cost base ready for AMP8. Each day will be different and there will be plenty for you to get stuck into.

  Key responsibilities will include:

  • Be the ‘go-to’ person for the Head of Finance – Operations and the central FP&A team for actuals and forecast reporting on Customer Operations and Customer Solutions numbers.
  • Produce and deliver reporting and performance insights targeting different levels of the organisation, from operational teams to Senior Management teams and STEC (Severn Trent Executive Committee).
  • Drive the efficiency plans across both business areas, directing the Commercial Finance Business Partners and the senior management teams of those areas.
  • Provide financial control and governance for the budget, actual and forecast financial performance of Customer Operations and Customer Solutions.
  • Drive and lead the development and delivery of improved financial governance and process efficiency for operating costs reporting, engaging the Commercial Finance Business Partners to improve on current ways of working.
  • Develop a finance team who have the skills, experience and drive to support their customers to enable value-based decision making, produce high quality insight and robust financial planning.
  • Work with the Group Finance team to ensure best practice is adopted with Operations Finance from a financial control perspective.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE 

To be considered for this role, you’ll need:

  • Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA
  • Track record of providing world class performance insights, financial control and reporting in a large organisation.
  • Experience collaborating with various business areas to drive improvements in performance.
  • Successfully leading, developing and motivating teams particularly in a changing environment.
  • Taking a lead in diagnosing business issues and working with the business to deliver performance improvements through insight.
