About this role
At Waymark, the engineering challenges we face are related to building products and data pipelines that enable care delivery teams (community health workers, social workers, pharmacists, and care coordinators) to support patients facing major health challenges.
As a DevOps engineer at Waymark, you will serve as a builder and connector in the ideation and deployment of tools used by community health workers, social workers, pharmacists, and medical assistants to enable comprehensive care for low-income patients. This is a position for a person with passion for social justice and improvement of health outcomes, and who wants to apply their skills by providing technical guidance and consultation to satisfy infrastructure requirements, assist with CI/CD release processes, and troubleshoot code and deployment issues, working with a diverse group of data scientists and fellow engineers to solve major healthcare problems.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts on the development team by providing technical guidance and consultation to satisfy infrastructure requirements, assist with CI/CD release process, and troubleshoot code and deployment issues.
- Build, deploy scalable, highly available systems and maintain software features and functions, databases and applications for cloud technologies (AWS).
- Lead the adoption and administration of distributed systems through the principles of Infrastructure as Code using configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible.
- Provides on-call support and monitors the system and identifies system deficiencies.
- Maintain process documentation, workflow and infrastructure and network architectural diagrams.
- Help setup platforms such as dBt and Sagemaker for Analysts and Data Scientists.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining highly available, fault-tolerant systems, preferably microservices
- 3+ years of experience leading multiple projects designing, building, and/or running production systems in cloud or virtualized environments
- Advanced knowledge in containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Nomad, Kubernetes)
- Strong knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS EC2, ECR, Cloudfront, Route 53
- Good working experience and knowledge of Postgresql and RabbitMQ platforms
- Strong knowledge of Linux and shell/bash scripting
- Experience with DevOps practices including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, automated deployment, automated testing, autoscaling, and self-healing
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare experience with healthcare data, privacy, and/or systems
- Experience configuring and maintaining databases (RDBMS & NoSQL)
- Deep understanding of build and release automation and dependency management
- Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (e.g. Grafana, Loki, Mimir, Alloy)
- Experience managing distributed systems which can handle data at scale
- Programming Experience (Python, Elixir, Typescript)
Salary Range:
US employees in New York City, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $158,000.00 - $205,000.00 USDUS employees in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, San Diego & Washington DC: $146,000.00 - $190,000.00 USD
US employees outside of the above listed US Cities: $138,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD
Additionally, compensation will depend on other factors, training, education, and experience.
Benefits and Other Compensation: Medical, vision, dental, basic life insurance, and stock options available for the hired applicant. Employees also receive twenty (20) vacation days, accrued over the year and eleven (11) paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Sixteen (16) weeks of parental leave for birthing parents will also be available for use after successful completion of 6 months of employment, eight (8) weeks of bonding leave for non-birthing parents. Employees are able to enroll in our 401(k) plan and commuter benefits plan.
