The AI & Experiences team is looking for a Distinguished Scientist to help us advance Zillow's mission by formulating and working on science-driven initiatives related to user experiences. This is a growing space, and the team wants to add a curious and intuitive scientist to build momentum in this area. The team is staffed with applied scientists, engineers, and designers who develop and utilize dialog, natural language processing, large language models, instruction tuning, computer vision, and relevance modeling to power immersive experiences for buyers and renters.
As a Distinguished Scientist, you will help create new science-fueled business opportunities, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our team’s technical and research work, and position our scientists and engineers to thrive within the company and research community. You will be encouraged to challenge established assumptions and expectations by capitalizing on what we already have and coming up with new ideas that fuel innovation and creativity. Our solutions ingest large volumes of data (imagery and metadata) and process it to build exciting and immersive experiences that can be explored on Zillow.com (http://www.zillow.com).

As a Distinguished Scientist, you are an innovative thinker in AI and machine learning with a long track record of innovation and a reputation and network to match. You have an understanding of natural language processing fundamentals, and when the occasion arises, you are a roll-up-the-sleeves and get-it-done applied scientist. We are looking for someone who has:
Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering, AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, or related domain
Experience shipping successful conversational systems with demonstrable business impact.
Solid experience innovating through basic and applied research in conversational AI and natural language processing, building models and algorithms and working systems.
Experience in deep learning, LLMs, conversational AI instruction tuning,.
Excellent publication record and an excitement to walk us through what you have learned!
Communication skills to work collaboratively with peers and leaders across a large organization to develop and help ship new technologies
Tenacity to embrace and solve ambiguous problems
Ability to effectively mentor both senior and junior applied scientists
