JOB SUMMARY

Code.org seeks a Donor Engagement Manager to help us steward our amazing donors. Your goal is to own and improve the donor experience to increase donor engagement and participation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Donor communication: Collaborate with the Development Team and other teams to determine the communication needs and then develop a broad array of clear, concise, creative and engaging donor communication including, impact reports, personalized reports for high-value donors, program updates, and high-value events, etc.
  • Benefits Management: Manage the administration of benefits for supporters, ensuring alignment with donor expectations and organizational objectives.
  • Supporter Stewardship: Implement stewardship strategies for a diverse range of supporters, from planning annual engagement activities to conducting regular communications.
  • Recognition and Acknowledgment: Maintain a comprehensive donor recognition program, ensuring accurate and timely acknowledgments across all platforms, including digital and marketing collateral.
  • Special Events: With support from the events team, lead the planning and execution of special events for donor cultivation and stewardship, accommodating both digital and in-person formats.
  • Organizational Engagement: Identify opportunities for donor engagement with Code.org’s programs, impacts, and volunteer initiatives, enhancing organizational visibility and support.
  • Work on special projects and perform other duties, as assigned by the VP of Development.
  • Actively respond to patrons and donor inquiries, calls and emails while keeping the VP of Development appraised of any issues.
  • Share responsibility for updating and maintenance of donor records within Salesforce.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

  • Experience: 5+ years in fundraising/donor communications, demonstrating a successful track record in driving donor campaigns and meeting fundraising objectives
  • CRM Database Skills: Salesforce experience is required
  • Superior Communication Skills: Proven track record of distilling complex information from a variety of sources into developing concise and engaging communication for donors
  • Cross-Cultural Communication Skills: Exhibit strong cross-cultural communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse, global donor base
  • Focused attention to detail: History of roles where the candidate has obsessed about important details to ensure the customer (our donors) have a great experience
  • Passion for Mission: Exceptional commitment to our cause
  • Exceptional Donor / Customer Service Skills: Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively engage with donors in all interactions
  • Interpersonal Skills and Teamwork: Adopts a “hard on problems and kind to each other” framework for engaging with the development team and partnering across the organization
  • Research Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing online databases (e.g., WealthX, Foundation Center) for prospect research
  • Digital Literacy: Demonstrated track record of using tools and technology as a force multiplier for the work. Must be proficient with Salesforce, Google Suite, generative AI tools, and bring a willingness to experiment and integrate new tools to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Travel Willingness: Openness to travel, with the ability to be on the move up to 25% of the time, supporting external engagements and fostering relationships

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events

WHAT IS THE INTERVIEW PROCESS LIKE?

Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (30 minutes)

Step 2: Homework (~3 hours)

Step 3: Interviews with several members of the Code.org team (~ 3 hours)
Step 4: Final Interview (1 hour)

Step 5: Reference Checks

All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Zoom

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE

The expected salary range for this position is $63,000 - $70,000. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, and skills.
