Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions to assist students with coursework, assignments, and projects related to computer information systems
- Lead small group study sessions to facilitate collaborative learning and problem-solving
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of computer information systems concepts, programming languages, software applications, and related subjects
- Stay current with course materials and updates students effectively
- Create and update tutoring materials such as study guides, practice exercises, and reference documents
- Recommend and help develop additional learning resources to support student success
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their work to help them improve their understanding and performance
- Assist in evaluating students’ progress and adapting tutoring methods as needed
- Maintain regular and consistent availability for tutoring sessions
- Work with Student Services to schedule and promote tutoring effectively
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled at California Institute of Applied Technology and eligible for Federal Work Study
- Must be in good academic standing, which includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and 80% attendance
- Solid Technical Knowledge: strong and up-to-date understanding of programming languages, software development methodologies, and tools relevant to the subjects they are teaching. This includes proficiency in languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, C++, etc., as well as familiarity with software development frameworks and libraries
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Patience and a passion for helping others succeed academically
- Previous tutoring experience is a plus
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. The Computer Information Systems Tutor must not exceed 20 hours per week and will take into consideration the tutor’s class schedule
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Essential functions of this role require sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to type, use a computer to search for information and input information while speaking on the phone is required
- The employee will frequently be required to use the computer, mouse and telephone to conduct the regular tasks of this role
- The employee will be required to compute simple to simple mathematical calculations as a normal part of this role
Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of this remote position, the job holder will work in a home office environment.
