Save My Exams is a rapidly growing EdTech business on the lookout for an ambitious Financial Lead.

Reaching up to 2m monthly active users and on our way to 100,000 paying members, all while being bootstrapped and profitable, we’re now on the lookout for an FC to join our Finance Team.

The Role

Reporting to, and working closely with the CFO, you will be instrumental in leveling up our financial operations and delivering accurate and timely financial information to both internal and external stakeholders.

The Finance Lead will deliver across all areas of accounting and finance, specifically focusing on:

  • Ensuring the delivery of fast and accurate financial information to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Building new and upgrading old processes and controls to to improve efficiency and preserve value creation
  • Compliance with tax, regulatory and any other reporting requirements

Your Responsibilities

Financial Control and Accounting

  • Establish best in class controls, processes and internal reporting
  • Develop fit for purpose financial systems, with a high degree of data integrity
  • Develop and update financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency across SME
  • Assist with all aspects of the company’s financial reporting and accounting including:
    • Bookkeeping, Treasury, Cashflow AP / AR, Payments, Invoicing
    • Ownership of GL’s, accounting system, month end reconciliations
    • VAT and other tax compliance
    • Annual Statutory Accounts and Audit, Consolidations
  • Working with BI to understand trends and performance
  • Prepare on-going support analysis of underlying data to support on-going optimisation of business activities.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Key stakeholder in the company’s budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Variance analysis and partnering with teams to understand variances

Systems

  • Develop & maintain fit for purpose systems

Other

  • Other finance and operational work that assist in the company
  • Collaborating across functions with the People and I&A teams to help drive business outcomes
  • FP&A support to include assistance with ensuring SME are making decisions and investments based on ROI
  • Involvement with ad hoc legal, HR and Corporate law
  • Company secretarial

Requirements

We are looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in finance and a passion for education. The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 7 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Process
