The Team

The Fraud team plays a crucial role in protecting our organization from fraudulent activities within the crypto space. We are on a mission to safeguard the integrity and trust of our organization by mitigating fraud losses, protecting our reputation and adhering to compliance and regulatory frameworks, whilst keeping the friction low on the rest of our valued clients. A results-oriented team of globally distributed fraud experts holding integrity, professionalism, collaboration and accountability as core values. Currently we are aiming to further work on automation and new tool delivery to help capture emerging fraud trends, becoming the #1 in fraud controls within the crypto industry.

Our goal is to be a Best In Class Fraud operational team.

Dynamically manage a growing team, bringing more efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and Automation, to streamline the workforce, and free up resources to take on new tasks.

Interested in seeing the bigger picture, and driving changes, working alongside the Strategy team to optimize the systems and controls to be able to deliver efficiencies and power up for the incoming industry changes ahead.

Keep within SLAs, reduce fraud levels, reduce friction and offer new ways of working.

Reporting to the Head of Fraud, the Fraud Operation Strategy Manager, plays a crucial role in protecting our organization from fraudulent activities within the crypto space and traditional banking rails. You will be responsible for managing the Fraud Operation Team, Strategy Planning, developing, implementing and optimizing processes and procedures, maintaining high standards of operational excellence and providing domain expertise to safeguard our company and ensure a secure environment for our clients.

The Opportunity

  • Manage and develop Fraud Team Leads/manager, who are directly responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Fraud Operations Team (Sr Fraud Analysts, Fraud Analysts, Fraud Disputes Analysts) and provide support and guidance as needed

  • Own and assist in the long-term development and Strategy of the Fraud Operations Team, taking into account technology enablement / tooling, hiring and managerial decision-making / direction

  • Deliver outsource fraud service level agreements (Licensed regulated Markets) and maintain the standards required

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve process, procedures, organizational efficiency and audit controls

  • Delivering Efficiency and effectiveness across the team and working toward optimization and base lining the head count.

  • Assist with development of automation, reducing the teams manual work by 30% in 2024

  • Assist with projects that are required for the fraud operational team, working with HO Fraud, Fraud Strategy and Fraud product teams

  • Provide domain expertise, communicate operational requirements and cross collaboration with other departments as required on various topics related to fraud

  • Systematically maintain high standards of operational excellence, utilizing a framework of strategic goals / OKRs and KPIs, delivering monthly, quarterly and yearly targets

  • Regularly report to leadership on performance metrics and relevant analytics pertaining to the Fraud Operations Team

  • Regular collaboration with the Fraud Strategy Team, Fraud product teams, Legal, Compliance and other teams across the business as required

  • Stay updated on the latest fraud and crypto trends, analyze and provide recommendations on customer account activity as needed to ensure Kraken maintains a high level of loss avoidance and a low level of risk due to fraudulent activity within Kraken’s customer base

  • Participate in the annual assessments of the business risk, mitigation, governance and audit controls, owning areas that fall under the operational teams remit

  • Maintain necessary records and files to ensure efficient and consistent reporting of all suspicious investigations; and define and document business requirements, processes and methodologies needed to develop and support fraud prevention systems

  • Provide quality service to customers and business partners in an efficient manner, keeping within the business SLAs set out

  • Regulatory compliance: Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines related to fraud prevention and ensure compliance within the organization and provide support as required

Skills you should HODL

  • Advantage: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration, or Finance)

  • Proven experience (7 - 9 years) in fraud prevention and risk management

  • Advantage: a strong understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and the associated fraud risks

  • Proficiency in fraud prevention strategies, tools, and techniques

  • Solid knowledge of data analytics and reporting, with experience in utilizing data-driven insights to drive decision-making

  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders

  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving industry

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to excel under pressure in a fast-paced environment
