DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking a remote linguist with idiomatic fluency in Portuguese (Brazil) for a freelance cooperation. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative project to build a customized speech recognition engine based on real call center data.
The ideal candidate would have a postgraduate degree in linguistics with a specialization in phonetics.
Responsibilities:
- Create pronunciations for all words in wordlist provided by DataForce using IPA or SAMPA phonetic alphabet for Portuguese (Brazil).
- Utilize a close set of phonemes to create the lexicon.
Requirements
- Idiomatic proficiency of Portuguese from Brazil.
- Strong fluency in English, with good communication skills.
- Postgraduate degree in linguistics with a specialization in Phonetics.
- Familiarity with the IPA and SAMPA phonetic alphabets.
- Prior experience with linguistic data, especially phonetic data.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to turn around deliverables on a tight schedule.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to understand and implement feedback.
