Job Description

Italic is creating a world of luxury without labels. We believe that luxury today is exclusionary and all about marketing that hurts its customers and manufacturers. Our mission is to create a new model that enables manufacturers to bypass the legacy luxury supply chain and deliver luxury goods with equivalent or better quality directly to consumers. Our customers come to rely on Italic for our quality, timeless design, and radical value.

Your two mandates are reasonable growth and enduring profitability.

This is not a cushy GM role. You will be expected to do a lot with little but experience significant upside should you succeed.

The GM will be responsible for building the brand so that we can achieve our revenue targets. Unlike a purely financial or growth role, you will not only set and track targets for the company but also work hand-in-hand with the CEO to manage and execute them.

This is a critical, all-encompassing leadership role that will challenge us to think bigger, to move faster, and to operate with data-driven discipline. As a leader, you will have significant autonomy and set the pace for business partners to execute and deliver while building the processes to ensure company-wide visibility and accountability.

Responsibilities:

Driving Sustainable Growth and Profitability

- Assume the overall strategic leadership responsibility for the financial performance and growth of Italic. Drive the team towards these two objectives.

- Develop and implement a robust growth strategy targeting profitability and sustainability in the long term

- Oversee the profit and loss (P&L) management of Italic, including setting financial targets, forecasting, and managing key performance metrics

Performance Management

- Set clear performance KPIs and targets in line with the brand's strategic objectives

- Monitor and manage operational performance against set goals, adapting strategies as necessary to keep the brand on track

Requirements:

Hard Skills

  • 3+ years at fast-growing consumer brands or top-tier consulting firms

  • Excellent financial acumen and experience in corporate financial management

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership

  • A deep love and zest for consumer retail and brand-building

  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills

  • A results-oriented individual with a strong sense of urgency

  • Detail-oriented; a critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills

  • A growth mindset with a deep commitment to personal and professional development

Culture

Great Brands Start With Great People

Our culture focuses on performance, integrity, and longevity. We believe that the best brands are not grown through sheer force but rather through deliberate decision-making and persistent effort over a long period of time. We are committed to creating a workplace where talented individuals can thrive in building an enduring, beloved brand that we all take pride in.

Inputs Over Outputs

We value the effort and work that goes into achieving results rather than just the end result. We believe that investing in our people and processes will lead to better outcomes while also creating a more sustainable and enjoyable environment.

Flat Hierarchy

Our company has a flat hierarchy and values the input and ideas of all team members. We believe that everyone has the potential to make a significant contribution to the success of the company.

Small Team, Big Opportunities

As a small team, all employees are expected to take ownership in their work. Some might move faster while others are fine with a slower pace. Those who seek to move faster in their career will be able to do so based solely on merit, contribution, and performance.
