The Government Affairs Coordinator monitors, analyzes, and influences federal legislative and regulatory developments that affect St. Jude's interests. Provide strategic guidance to senior management regarding federal government policies, political trends, and potential regulatory changes. Plays a key role in implementing and developing tracking and communication mechanisms regarding relevant federal legislative and policy initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide policy and logistical support for the Office of Government Affairs (e.g., maintenance of processes, systems, communications, and information).
  • Support development and implementation of tracking and communication mechanisms regarding relevant legislative and policy initiatives.
  • Monitor, research, analyze, and summarize state legislative and regulatory developments on areas of interest to St. Jude and its subsidiaries (e.g., bill tracking; internet research; review of articles of interest, testimony, hearings, or floor debates).
  • Develop issue positions and coordinate with internal or external stakeholders, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • BS in Biology or Life Science's is the preferred educational requirement or Bachelor's degree in public affairs, political science, or related field required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Experience: 3+ years experience in health care, policy, campaign environment or relevant experience.
  • Experience Exception: Juris Doctorate degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.
  • Advanced degree in biomedical research or life sciences, with completed internship in Washington, DC through the FDA, CDC, American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS) or similar organization preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Government Affairs Coordinator.
