Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a IP&T Docket Supervisor, Trademark Docket. This position can be fully remote or hybrid and reports to the Senior Manager, IP&T Docket.
Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and supervision to junior, mid-level and senior Trademark Docket staff. Complete and deliver mid-year and year-end performance reviews.
- Overall responsibility for quality assurance on all work performed by junior, mid-level and senior Trademark Docket staff.
- Establish workflow, work schedule, and communication within and among the Trademark Docket team.
- Database maintenance including status checks, past due dates, and overall data integrity of the trademark portfolio.
- Ensure docketing of matters is timely and efficiently processed within the trademark team and accurately forwarded to necessary departments and/or individuals thereafter.
- Assist the team with daily tasks including, but not limited to, daily docketing / de-docketing, creating new records from new matter requests, and global updates.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of the docketing specialists and establish a program to cross-train specialists in all areas of responsibility.
- Research and compile trademark rule/law change announcements for management review. Assist with the quarterly review of the docketing software law updates.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all foreign and domestic trademark processes and procedures.
- Assist IP&T attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries with special trademark client projects as needed.
- Provide general and/or specialized docket reports upon request by attorneys and other firm personnel. Run and maintain regularly scheduled reports.
- Manage relationships between internal clients (IP Practice) and Trademark Docket to ensure high levels of satisfaction with support provided by Trademark Docket.
- Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in a supervisory/management role.
- Minimum 5 years of trademark docketing experience required.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and team building skills.
- Experience utilizing intellectual property docketing software required; experience using Inprotech highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of U.S. and international trademark docketing rules/laws/due date calculations, including prosecution and opposition/cancellation proceedings.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
