Position Overview:
GLS isseekingan experienced Khmer-to-English or English-to-Khmer translator and editor tosupport ongoing document translation and editing assignments.
This remote, freelance independent contractor role involves translating and editing a variety of official documents, including vital records, legal documents, official certificates, and academic transcripts. Assignments will be provided on an as-needed basis and may require quick turnaround timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate Khmer to English or English to Khmer into an accurate product.
Edit and review translated materials for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency.
Maintain confidentiality and follow all client-specific instructions and formatting requirements.
Meet assigned deadlines, including one-to-two-day turnaround timelines, when required,
Requirements
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship and current residence in the United States are required.
Native or highly proficient Khmer and English language skills.
A Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, language studies, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
Two to five years of proven experience as a translator and/or editor.
Strong attention to detail, excellent formatting skills, and the ability to produce client-ready work.
Reliable, deadline-oriented, highly productive, and comfortable working independently.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, professional approach.
Access to up-to-date Windows software and the ability to work with standard document formats.
Able to provide per-word rates for translation and editing.
Willingness to accept assignments on an as-needed basis.
