Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Production Coordinator to join us at Giant Animation.

As a Lighting, FX & Compositing Coordinator you will be responsible for assisting and supporting production supervision, maintaining quotas, and deadlines, and ensuring departmental productivity goals are consistently met. In addition, you will maintain and manage production workflows to assist with departmental and show needs.

Starting Date: ASAP - September 2024.

Contract Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Management and Department Supervisors to ensure that there is clear, up-to-date communication between departments.
  • Assess and follow up on the inventory from Animation, Tech Tickets, and/or upstream dependencies until they are resolved.
  • Manage Masters and Shot Production priorities based on input from the Production Manager or Management/Client to maintain desired quotas, deadlines, and inventory flow. As required, you are expected to assign or reassign tasks to artists, Leads, and Supes based on the need of the hour.
  • Ensure your respective department’s resources are effectively allocated and tasked in SG/FPT and in line with the overall Master Schedule and the departmental productivity goals are consistently met.
  • Manage Calendar(s) for the Leadership team as needed for the Project.
  • Provide clear and professional communication to all crew members across various departments in meetings and via email and messages.
  • Work with Departmental Leads, CG Supervisor(s), and Art Director(s) to ensure deadlines are met. Please ensure all the Bids and Time logs are up-to-date in SG. Do flag your Manager and Supe and/or Lead when an artist goes overbid on any task to figure out a long-term solution to mitigate the overage.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to send out Deliverables to the Client via Email and/or ShotGrid. Flag if you foresee any challenges.
  • Work with your Manager and Creative and Technical Leadership to ensure the leave requests get reviewed on a timely basis.
  • Create an environment that promotes collaboration and creativity, including being an effective facilitator between Department Heads or Supervisors, Leads, Production, and Artists.
  • Ensure that the workflow from one department to the next is as seamless as possible, respond to issues as they arise and solve problems with other Coordinators, Production Manager(s), and Department Heads or Supervisors.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience as a Coordinator with a passion for Animation or VFX or Films in general.
  • Experience with Shot Production processes and workflow, preferably with Lighting, Comp, FX and Rendering departments.
  • A solid working knowledge of Shotgun/ShotGrid/Flow Production Tracking.
  • Organized, proactive, adaptable and a self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-sufficient and ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, take feedback and direction and mentor junior production staff.
