Microsoft 365 Administrator

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Microsoft 365 and SharePointOnline Administrator to join our team. As a key member of RMI's Strategic Operations team, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our Microsoft 365 environment, with a strong emphasis on SharePoint, Teams, and Power Platform. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless operation of our collaboration tools, ensuring efficient communication, document management, and process automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Microsoft Teams Administration:

  • Configure and maintain Teams channels, chat, meetings, and collaboration features.

  • Manage user access, permissions, and security settings within Teams.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Teams-related issues.

  • Collaborate with end-users, including external users, to enhance their Teams experience and optimize usage.

  • SharePoint Administration:

  • Administer our robust SharePoint environment of 300+ sites and 1.5 million documents to include site architecture, permissions, and content types.

  • Working with Knowledge Management team members, design and implement SharePoint solutions to improve document management, content organization, and collaboration.

  • Monitor and optimize SharePoint performance.

  • Support end-users with issues, tickets and data migration.

  • Support and troubleshoot external user access

  • Partner with Knowledge Management and Legal to design data retention policy; implement and monitor

  • Administer and maintain an up-to-dateour SharePoint development environment.

  • Manage projects being executed by contractors.

  • Perform weekly data reduction efforts in collaboration with Knowledge Management and end users

  • Provide user training on SharePoint best practices and general knowledge

  • Troubleshoot and manage any integrations with other tools, apps or embedded products.

  • Power Platform Management:

  • Oversee Power Apps, Power Automate (Flow), and Power BI.

  • Create and maintain custom apps, workflows, and reports using Power Platform.

  • Collaborate with business units to automate processes and enhance productivity.

  • Ensure data integrity and security within Power Platform.

  • Help create structure and guidelines for how to use Power Platform.

  • Troubleshoot various forms, flows and PowerBI reports as needed.

  • Vendor Management:

  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers related to Microsoft 365 services.

  • Evaluate vendor offerings, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships and work product.

  • Monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) and escalate issues as needed.

  • Release Management:

  • Stay abreast ofMicrosoft 365 updates, feature releases, and future dependencies between systems

  • Understanding of how feature releases and updates will impact organizational tools, assets, security and user workflows.

  • Communicate release schedules to RMI staff with special focus on supporting impacted end-users and IT through transitions.

Required Experience:

  • Office 365 Administration:

  • Proven experience managing Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, OneDrive, M365 Groups, and Entra ID.

  • Familiarity with licensing, user provisioning, and security settings.

  • SharePoint Administration:

  • Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online administration

  • Knowledge of site architecture, content types, permissions, data retention and content management

  • Experience administering SharePoint online instances that have sites that allow collaboration with multiple external project team members.

  • Teams Administration:

  • Prior experience working in Teams environments that have external collaborators.

  • Experience with groups and security in Teams.

  • Vendor Management:

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, manage projects executed by contractors, and negotiate contracts.

Preferred Experience:

  • SharePoint Development and DevOps:

  • Experience in creating custom SharePoint solutions using SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Apps, and Power Automate.

  • Familiarity with version control, continuous integration, and deployment pipelines.

  • Experience implementing data retention policies in SharePoint and Office 365.

  • Familiarity with and interest in navigating choices related to Co-Pilot and its interoperability with existing tech stack

  • Compliance Experience:

  • Understanding of how to implement compliance requirements within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate, SharePoint certifications) are a plus.

Location   

We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.   

We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.   

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation 

The salary range for this position is $92,846 to $114,433.This is dependent upon experience that will be discussed and vetted through the interview process.
