About this role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a IT Business Analyst, with a deep cross-domain knowledge of broadly defined Corporate Systems (e.g. Finance, HR, Operations, Legal/Compliance, IT). The IT Business Analyst is responsible for both functional business, technical systems analysis and project management activities. Additionally, this role will work closely with business stakeholders and IT functions to implement or increment technology solutions, drive high-level epics and user stories into product backlogs; grooming, and act as a project manager and subject matter expert. The IT Business Analyst will also be responsible for select escalation or post-implementation systems support/ redirection to vendors.
In this role, you will be able to leverage your domain and systems knowledge to identify opportunities in support of ongoing business transformation via planful systems enhancements, simplification, and governance.
This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborate across Axsome business functions, departments, competencies, external partners and vendors to help deliver or increment technology solutions, tools, processes and reporting
- Understand, own and maintain business processes, user stories, technical documentation and training materials on behalf of our business partners, while remaining compliant with internal and external compliance and regulatory guidelines
- Guide technical and architectural discussions that impacts processes and user experience and contribute to the overall technology architecture evolution
- Contribute to planning, tactical execution, and operationalization of multiple parallel efforts aligned with departmental portfolios and domain objectives, while remaining compliant with applicable regulatory guidelines
- Create and maintain strong relationships between IT and business functions, including periodical business/technology reviews
- Act in a Product Manager capacity, maintaining product backlogs, perform issue troubleshooting, resolving root causes, and updating process and systems documentation to support backlogs
- Where appropriate, act in a Project Manager capacity, leading feasibility assessments, product/vendor evaluations and selection, overseeing implementation and release management
- Troubleshoot complex business/technical issues and mobilize cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Supervise vendors and contractors to meet business and IT project needs
- Develop knowledge of Axsome’s wider IT architecture and the respective businesses’ end-to-end processes
- Lead or contribute to entire solution lifecycles through planning, selection, inception, implementation, operations, release management, support, data management and reporting
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience in a Business/Systems Analyst type role, with demonstrable experience in systems deliveries, process mapping, and process improvement
- Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, preferably in one or more of the following areas: HR, Finance, Operations, Regulatory compliance
- Substantial SharePoint troubleshooting and maintenance experience
- Experience with M365 Microsoft stack, including Dynamics ERP
- Demonstrated project management skills in a full life-cycle product implementation
- Ability to work onsite Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates looking for fully remote roles.
Experience and Knowledge
- Exposure to GxP, ICH, 21CFR Part 11 regulations/systems, Annex 11, GDPR, or CCPA rules
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interface and influence internal and external partners at multiple organization levels
- Demonstrated technical understanding of application architecture including various technologies such as SaaS solutions, web applications, information repositories, relational databases and reporting applications/tools
- Basic SQL and core Business Intelligence skills to query databases/repositories and create reports
- Exposure to Scrum and agile development methodologies
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills, with a high degree of self-motivation, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to proactively plan, organize, deliver with limited oversight, prioritize, and quickly adapt to changing situations
- Proficient in essential tools such as Windows, Microsoft 365, Smartsheet, or other productivity and project management tools
- Hands-on experience operationalizing end to end business processes, including the ability to evaluate business processes, identify gaps, and develop strategies to maximize opportunities for a specific business function
- Experience in Technology Release Management for SaaS applications
- Experience with one or more of the following tools: Veeva products, Power BI or Tableau, JIRA, Dynamics or other ERP financials, HRIS and Learning Management Systems, and Legal/Contract Management software.
Salary & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $115,000-$130,000 We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
