About the Job:

As the People Operations Manager, you will oversee the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, and internal operations - with a focus on best-in-class client service. You will manage our POps functions, including onboarding & offboarding, benefits, compensation, payroll, immigration, and compliance. You are committed to supporting diversity and inclusivity within the company and work with our Employee Experience team to plan and direct employee engagement events and promote a mission-driven culture.

You have experience working with fully remote teams. This position reports to the VP, People and will oversee the work of the People Operations Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Help us deliver best-in-class client service around critical processes such as onboarding, offboarding, payroll changes, leave administration, unemployment claims, and job information changes focusing on being not only user-friendly but also utilizing proven best practices and new innovative tools.
  • Proactively assess, document, implement, and iterate on policies, processes, procedures, and programs that effectively communicate, focus on improving employee engagement, and support our mission & culture so our employees can achieve the company’s business goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on executing people strategy and aligning employees' needs with the company's overall mission.
  • Be Data Driven: In this role, you will partner with our coordinator to analyze metrics and provide insights to leadership. This involves using the data to define a narrative and address trends via strategy and creative problem-solving.
  • Help to build our new systems and data strategy: Manage existing HR systems to ensure compliance across all verticals and help to assess and introduce new innovative programs.
  • Employer branding: Monitor and manage employee and candidate engagement through Glassdoor; make impactful recommendations to the leadership team based on results.
  • Payroll: own payroll review and approval process.
  • Ensure we are properly maintaining employee files and documentation.
  • Partner with our outside counsel to manage immigration processes.
  • Ensure we are compliant with federal, state, and local legal requirements; advising on needed actions.

Skills / Experience You Have:

  • Strong knowledge of key operational aspects of HR including employment law, performance management, resolving conflict, employee engagement, training, maintaining employee files, and payroll. Must have experience working in a multi-state environment.
  • Clear, strong written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly across all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze problems at a senior level, providing feedback, guidance, and direction.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, growing company.
  • Track record of high accountability, with a bias for action.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Has experience managing at least one direct report.

Skills / Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working as a People Operations Manager, HR Manager, HR Generalist or similar role
  • Experience working with distributed multi-state remote first teams.
  • SPHR or other HR certification preferred.
