Marketing Communications & Social Media Officer
About The Role:
The Marketing Communications & Events (MCE) team is seeking a Marketing Communications & Social Media Officer to support the coordination, development, and execution of a variety of internal and external initiatives. Under the direction of theSenior Marketing & Communications Officer, Brand, the Marketing Communications & Social Media Officer will implement tactics using various media such as social media, video, print, and web-based products to elevate the VentureWell brand and support key organizational strategic priorities.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation (25% of time)
- Draft and review content for VentureWell communication channels, including website, email campaigns, and social media
- Draft and edit compelling announcements, press releases, promotional copy, and other written materials about VentureWell brand-level and business development initiatives
- Contribute to the creation of video content highlighting VentureWell programs and strategic initiatives, highlighting the outcome and impact of our work
- Develop talking points
- Help source compelling, mission-aligned stories of impact
- Contribute to the creation of branded digital and print collateral material and swag
Social Media (55% of time)
- Plan, develop, and execute strategic multi-channel social media campaigns that align with the business goals of VentureWell and its programs
- Outline, capture, and produce high-quality, on-brand photo, video, and/or graphic content for all social media channels utilizing platform-specific capabilities like Instagram stories, LIVE features, polls, question stickers, community groups, and more
- Under the direction of Senior Marketing & Communications Officer, Brand, manage social media content calendar and scheduling; pitch new campaigns, content ideas, and strategies to align with VentureWell’s promotional calendar
- Define KPIs, measure, test and report on social strategies and campaigns using analytics tools
Brand Awareness and Thought Leadership (20% of time)
- Build brand awareness by conducting social listening of partners, stakeholders, grantees, and employees and engaging with these audiences to facilitate an active, respectful, and informed online community
- Under the direction of the Senior Marketing & Communications Officer, Brand, identify opportunities and story ideas to pitch to media outlets
- Contribute to discrete strategic communication campaigns designed to engage potential partners and funders
- Support the creation and implementation of internal-facing brand literacy and awareness initiatives, such as developing training materials, handouts, and other resources to ensure consistent brand alignment across the organization
- Carry out other communications duties as assigned
What You Bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in communications or other relevant field(s) preferred
- Minimum of five years of related professional experience; nonprofit, higher education, or agency work with these sectors is ideal
- Solid foundation of social media, website, and print material design principles
- Experience managing professional Social Media platforms in your work experience
- Experience writing promotional copy or other written materials that support brand level initiatives
- Excellent writing, editing, and campaign execution skills
- Experience translating complex material into digestible, lay-friendly language
- Strong project management skills and the ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail
- Track record of meeting deadlines, along with the ability to learn and master new skills
- Desire to learn, grow, improve, and try new things
- Willingness to support and include others in order to find the best solutions and execute innovative and impactful campaigns
- A strategic approach to analyzing communication and engagement campaigns to monitor effectiveness and make data-informed decisions
- Solid grasp of graphics and design using PPT, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and InDesign), or Canva
- Comfortable working in a remote environment

- Salary range of $70-$85k commensurate with experience and internal equity
- 403(b) plan with 200% match up to a maximum contribution from VentureWell of 10% when the employee puts it 5% (eligible after one year of service for the match)
