Job Description

  • Advise/assist the Operations Superintendent in survey planning, survey contract management and crisis management.

  • Propose improvements to the systems and processes.

  • Champions new or redesigned mechanical seismic equipment that may be introduced to the crews by Innovation or Technical Support.

  • Advise/assist other departments when mechanical skills are required.

  • Contributes to the crew performance review.

  • Manages the crew Mechanical team.

    • In collaboration with the Operations Superintendent, assesses departmental personnel based on HR and technical requirements.
    • Defines the individual development plans of his/her team members according to needs.
    • Ensures that the Mechanical Shift leaders and Operators are properly prepared for their assigned tasks and leads by example.
    • Defines, priorities and supervises department tasks.
  • With the objective to maximize crew productivity by:

    • Efficiently and safely operating mechanical equipment. According to work instruction and procedures. In close cooperation with the other departments involved in the operation.
  • Maintaining the mechanical equipment:

    • Implements and manages the maintenance plan based on office recommendations and supplier manuals (Repairs, preventive maintenance, condition-based maintenance).
    • Documents and reports equipment maintenance in the maintenance system and other relevant tools.
    • Monitors maintenance indicators and implements corrective actions.
    • Requests for assistance, when necessary, expertise from other departments on board, external intervention based on technical analysis and specification of needs through the fault reporting system or the shipyard work list.
    • Manages spare parts (OPEX) and stock inventories; efficiently ordering spare parts and needs through the ordering/purchasing requisition system, tracking and updating received shipment records.
    • Propose CAPEX investments to the Operations Superintendent and Technical support team.
  • Advises Operations Superintendent when interfacing with the client representative for technical matters concerning mechanical equipment and other related equipment.

***Please note that this is an offshore rotational role***

Requirements

Engineering School; Technician Diploma: General mechanic – Hydraulic – Electro-mechanic, familiar with:

  • Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical equipment (up to 690 volts), Automats and Programmable Logic Controller.
  • Electric motors (AC drive winch systems).
  • Active heave compensated systems.
  • Offshore Cranes and related LARS systems.
  • Welding (aluminum, stainless steel).
  • Knowledge of Seismic operations.
  • Familiar or conversant with Subsea systems and components to include ROV tooling and skids.
  • Survey planning.
  • Marine back deck operations, cranes, winches, lifting and towing appliances.
  • Managing Maintenance/reporting systems.
  • Spoken and Written English with the ability to document clear technical reports.

Or equivalent vocational or military background, including:

  • Engineer
  • Mechanic
  • Artificer
    • Ability to work abroad in an international environment and in challenging field conditions.
    • Ability to work as a team player with a spirit of initiative and achievement orientation.
    • Flexible attitude to new situations and requirements.
    • Integrity and Trustworthiness.
