Job Summary:

Leads a shift which ensures safe mechanical handling of the nodes from the node storage system to the ROV, maintaining and operating Node Storage Systems, LARS (active heave compensated systems including offshore related cranes and lifting device systems) and Subsea systems (Subsea baskets and ROV skids). The Shift Leader Mechanic ensures operation according to survey requirements, compliance with survey contractual specifications, HSE, technical performance, and preservation of assets.


Main Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining/managing all related vessel mechanical handling systems (LARS) and the handling of the nodes from the node storage system to the ROV:

  • Reporting to the Chief Mechanic on the performance during their shift, and handover to the opposite shift.
  • Responsible for the Repair and Maintenance of all PXGEO proprietary Subsea equipment
  • Advises the Chief Mechanic / NHV Coordinator / Party Manager on non-routine situations.
  • Propose improvements to the systems and processes.
  • Leads back-deck and port call operations.
  • Contributes to technical analysis, fault reporting and shipyard work list.
  • Assist other departments when mechanical skills are required.
  • Supervises department tasks.
  • Efficient and safe operation of the mechanical equipment. According to work instruction and procedures. In close cooperation with the other departments involved in the operation.
  • Maintaining the mechanical equipment:
    • Documents and reports equipment maintenance in the maintenance system and other relevant tools;
    • Implements corrective actions, and when necessary, requests expertise from other departments on board

Requirements

Technical Qualifications and skills:

Engineering School; Technician Diploma: General mechanic – Hydraulic – Electro-mechanic, familiar with:

  • Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical equipment (up to 690 volts), Automats and Programmable Logic Controller.
  • Electric motors (AC drive winch systems).
  • Active heave compensated systems.
  • Offshore Cranes and related LARS systems.
  • Welding (aluminum, stainless steel).
  • Knowledge of Seismic operations.
  • Familiar or conversant with Subsea systems and components to include ROV tooling and skids.
  • Survey planning.
  • Marine back deck operations, cranes, winches, lifting and towing appliances.
  • Managing Maintenance/reporting systems.
  • Spoken and Written English with the ability to document clear technical reports.
