Summary

The Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting the Chief Legal Officer on a wide range of legal matters, ensuring that all legal and compliance activities are handled efficiently and accurately. This role demands a proactive and resourceful individual who can conduct thorough legal research, draft and review documents, and manage legal workflow requests with the utmost precision. The Paralegal will be responsible for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations, assisting in the preparation of legal briefs, and coordinating with external legal counsel and various departments within the organization. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively while maintaining a high standard of work. The ideal candidate will demonstrate discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information and will contribute to the overall success of the Legal and Compliance team at CSD.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on various topics as directed by the Chief Legal Officer.
  • Draft, review, and organize legal documents, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal briefs, memos, and reports.
  • Maintain and update legal files, ensuring all relevant information is easily accessible and up-to-date.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents and other legal materials.
  • Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support the development and implementation of compliance programs and policies.
  • Conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Chief Legal Officer's calendar, including scheduling meetings and appointments.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, record keeping, and data entry.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining the department's legal library and resources.
  • Liaise with various departments within the organization to gather information and support legal initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external parties to facilitate legal processes.
  • Provide general support to the Legal and Compliance team as required.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to build and supervise high-performance, remote work teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (preferred)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.

· Paralegal certification preferred.

  • Minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in a corporate legal environment.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
Salary Description$82,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
