About the Role
Alternative Payments is seeking a visionary and highly experienced Principal Engineer to drive our technical initiatives and set the strategic direction for our platform. In this fully remote role, you will lead the development of scalable, high-performance solutions using Golang and React/Next.js, guiding both technology and team towards continued innovation in the payments industry.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Vision:
Lead and drive technical initiatives and projects from inception to delivery.
Define and evolve our architectural vision, ensuring systems are scalable, resilient, and designed for high performance.
Independently scope, plan, and manage projects that align with business objectives.
Mentorship & Team Development:
Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to junior and mid-level team members.
Conduct and actively participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and consistency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with product management, design, QA, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure alignment between technical initiatives and business goals.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:
Employ strong risk assessment and change management skills to ensure technical solutions remain robust and adaptable.
Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to champion best practices and drive continuous improvement across the team.
Requirements
Extensive Software Development Experience:
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects and independently managing technical initiatives.
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in Golang and React/Next.js.
Deep understanding of software architecture, design principles, and modern development paradigms.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong ability to mentor and guide team members.
Proven experience in taking ownership of team results, productivity, and the overall quality of deliverables.
Problem-Solving & Communication:
Exceptional problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective interactions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Project & Risk Management:
Ability to independently scope out and manage projects.
Strong skills in risk assessment and change management to ensure technical initiatives are robust and adaptable.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA or Trello.
Experience with cloud services, microservices architectures, or other modern development paradigms.
Background in the payments, fintech, or SaaS industries.
