About the job

The Red Hat In-Vehicle OS and Edge Business Unit is looking for a Principal Product Manager to join us to help lead the product strategy and roadmap for Red Hat’s solutions. In this role, you will play a critical role in managing a key corporate priority of growing edge business by using your technical and business skills to help set business priorities and to describe the value of technical features to engineering and business leaders. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of end-to-end business needs of our customers and partners, e.g., problem definition, identifying solutions, and managing requirements backlog
  • Engage key customers and partners in technical conversations to understand customer needs while working with a talented and collaborative team to build innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with Red Hat product and engineering teams to manage new automotive-focused capabilities across Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, etc.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the in-vehicle software development ecosystem and the software defined vehicle industry initiative
  • Develop a deep understanding of how functional safety certification can be achieved based upon Linux
  • Manage and coordinate complex, multi-phased deliverables by guiding cross-functional teams to define, scope, plan, and deliver high-quality software for the in vehicle software market
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders while fostering an environment of collaboration, trust, and accountability

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, marketing, or a related area; MBA degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience working as a product manager for embedded software, enterprise software or cloud services
  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure software, cloud-native application development, and cloud services markets, including key players, market trends, and technology direction
  • Proven record of building new offerings and solutions by leading cross-functional teams with inspiration and persuasion
  • Ability to work with sales and marketing in product positioning and go-to-market strategies for mission-critical software offerings
  • Ability to work remotely in the Eastern U.S. work hours
  • Prior experience or understanding of edge market opportunities in automotive, industrial automation, operations technology, and telco is a plus
  • Working knowledge of open source software and development models is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, following Red Hat’s COVID-19 guidelines

The salary range for this position is $125,760 - $207,533 Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
