Program Director - Product Planning and Delivery

Remote - USA

As the Director of Product Planning and Delivery, you will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality platform and product experiences. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the product development processes in complex, highly cross-functional organizations.

Reporting directly to the VP of Application Product Management, you will also:

  • Lead and Develop Teams: Oversee the product planning and delivery team, including defining roles, assigning responsibilities, managing resources, and recruiting top talent.
  • Refine Project Management: Establish and enhance project management methodologies, policies, procedures, and tools for both internal and external projects.
  • Ensure Accountability: Guide the team in creating detailed planning and delivery schedules, ensuring commitments are met on time and within budget, and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Programs: Manage programs across various functional areas, understanding dependencies and risks between cross-functional teams.
  • Mitigate Risks: Identify potential bottlenecks and facilitate risk mitigation and issue resolution as needed.
  • Adopt Industry Methodologies: Implement appropriate industry methodologies to meet the organization’s functional needs.
  • Develop Best Practices: Create and implement best practices and tools for program execution and management.
  • Maintain Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, helping to drive alignment on program scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Develop Comprehensive Plans: Create full-scale program plans and associated communication documents.
  • Align Projects with Objectives: Coordinate multiple projects to ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Manage Budgets and Resources: Oversee program budgets and resource allocation for both planning / approval process as well as during delivery.

What you will bring to the role

  • Proven experience in digital project management experience
  • Proven track record of building a strong project management team/function in product and technology
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Agile, SCRUM, SAFe certifications strongly preferred
  • Experience in managing product and technology development and releases, customer launches, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to quickly and effectively build relationships based on trust
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often changing environment
  • Ability to dig into project details and take a step back to identify cross-project dependencies and opportunities
  • Experience collaborating with executive and senior-level management
  • Excellent drive and initiative, and sense of personal accountability

What Pearson can offer you?

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $190,000 - $205,000.
