What to expect:
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the complete project lifecycle of cross-functional projects. This includes liaising with stakeholders to develop project plans, including scope, timeline and budget; establishing KPIs and managing workflow. A critical component of the Project Manager’s role is to monitor and manage risks, identify potential obstacles, and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard project success. The PM will provide regular updates to all stakeholders, including formal reports to Manager, Business Development & Program Management, to communicate progress, highlight variances against the plan and problem-solve. The PM is responsible for overall project quality and alignment of KPIs with the organizational strategic plan.
This includes:
Project Management
- Coordinate internal resources, contractors, and external vendors as required for successful execution of projects
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility in coordination with manager
- Plan and oversee resource availability and allocation
- Develop a detailed project plan and track progress
- Manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Achieve operational objectives by providing relevant information and recommendations to inform strategic plans
- Enhance department and organizational reputation by accepting ownership and proactively seeking opportunities to add value
- Monitor and ensure project milestones are met and that proactive corrective actions are taken
- Take ownership of product lifecycle by keeping detailed change logs
- Deliver project work within scope, timeline and budget or provide detailed information to inform management when variations occur and cannot be course-corrected
- Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports to stakeholders and government entities, including future action plans as necessary.
Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with the client and all key project stakeholders (internal and external).
- Build and establish a broad communications plan with all key stakeholders to ensure ongoing support, feedback, knowledge, and outcomes are shared throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Attend internal / external meetings and conferences and liaise with regulatory authorities when required.
- Arrange and lead monthly and quarterly meetings with all internal/ external stakeholders.
- Engage external and internal stakeholders throughout the design and execution process, including program structure, continuous improvement, and progress review.
- Respond to inquiries about the program with key Government stakeholders.
- Communicate program statistics and accomplishments with internal/ external stakeholders to facilitate key messaging for press releases and communication plans.
- Conduct regular performance feedback and evaluation sessions with customers to improve delivery model.
- Monitor individual and team progress towards goals, objectives and business plans; continuously communicate ongoing progress, identify any variances, and implement corrective actions, as needed.
- Recognize milestone achievements, celebrate, and share achievements with team and stakeholders.
Project Performance
- Manage the financial budget to ensure all costs are monitored throughout the project and recording any deviations and promptly establishing plans to rectify them.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time and surpassing established milestones and final phases in program launches, as this is vital for the project’s overall success.
- Monitor resource allocation to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Measure the project’s impact based on agreed-upon outcomes established by stakeholders for the program.
Program Development
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop a database of potential projects that align with organizational goals
- Collaborate with other partners to draft grant proposals and supporting documentation based on the funding requirements
- Respond to internal and external queries about funding proposals.
- Maintain positive relationships with funders and other stakeholders.
- Maintain records and submit reports related to project and grant opportunities.

This position reports to the Manager, Business Development & Program Management and will be a dynamic position that will provide a diverse experience in a wide range of business lines within CWB Group. You will be working remotely from your home office with possible occasional travel to project locations. CWB has adopted a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
What you bring to the table:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience working as a Project Manager.
- Strong reporting and organizational skills; superior Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience leading organizational change required.
- Experience working with senior management team and government at various levels.
- Experience leading and managing diverse teams of professional and support staff required.
- Ability to see both the big picture perspective and pay scrupulous attention to details.
- Post-secondary education, university graduate strongly preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- This is a remote, work from home position.
- Travel within and outside of Canada may be occasionally necessary. The employee is required to arrange for standard travel documents such as visas and passports as part of their employment requirement. Reimbursement for expenses obtained for more complex travel documentation will be provided by CWB upon prior approval from the manager.
The following qualifications are considered assets:
Project management certification; PMP strongly preferred.
- Background in industry, preferably in welding, construction, engineering or related industry.
- Bilingual in English and French.
