Serco Environmental Services

Location: Home Based with regular national travel

Job type: Permanent, full-time

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Serco’s Environmental services team provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of residents and communities from contracts across the UK. This role will work to provide effective operational at depot training, coaching and mentoring across all Environmental services contracts to ensure the safe, professional, and efficient delivery of operational Refuse and Recycling services within a demanding commercial environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver operational training including “Train the Trainer” sessions to upskill operational supervisors on how to deliver key objectives and tasks to the workforce
  • Drive improved communications and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify knowledge gaps or mandatory training needs and agree a learning plan with contract Managers to create bespoke operational learning plans.
  • Identify and share best practice , creating a standardised approach to allow consistent monitoring and improvement opportunities across all contracts, offering suggestions and ideas for improvements in service provision.
  • Review all operational training materials to ensure that they are current and up to date and to ensure that everyone is using the same Version.
  • Establish an effective process to support training reviews and compliance.
  • Support in the maintenance of the Learning Management System to ensure that all training records are kept up to date and are compliant against mandated, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
  • To ensure that all training documentation is completed and recorded in the compliance centre and the Learning Management System in a timely manner.

What I need to do the role?

  • Working knowledge within Waste industry
  • Experience of working in a manual and/or field-based workforce.
  • Experience of delivering effective training and coaching in an operational waste environment
  • Experience of using IT applications (MS Office and Industry Related Systems) at an advanced level
  • Ability to plan, create and embed bespoke training plans ,forecasting delivery up to 6 months ahead
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritising and managing workloads
  • Full driving licence is essential.
  • Must be willing to travel nationally across England on a regular basis.
