This is a Regional Wholesaler (RVP) role with our Annuity Brokerage team supporting our clients in the territory of Virginia and Washington, DC. Living in the territory or directly adjacent to the territory is strongly preferred.

This is an H.99 band role.

As a Regional Wholesaler, you'll market annuity service products through various financial institutions including banks, wire houses and independent broker dealers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and connects with financial advisors to promote annuity products and services.

  • Assists financial advisors in identifying and marketing to prospects and educates them on all aspects of the annuity business.

  • Encourages repeat business with financial advisors and acquires referrals to other financial advisors.

  • Coordinates with Nationwide's team of specialists regarding cross-selling opportunities, referrals and joint meetings.

  • Conducts training at local financial institution offices to market products through seminars, meetings and one-on-one sessions on products within assigned territory.

  • Provides field support and expertise to producers, including public seminars and client visitations.

  • Participates in exhibitions, seminars and presentations, meetings with top producers and other formal financial institution gatherings.

  • Coordinates local financial institutions input, suggestions and questions on products.

  • Acts as a liaison with the corporate headquarters.

  • Provides sales management with weekly updates on territory activity.

  • Coordinates the licensing of producers within assigned territory.

  • Manages territory to coordinate with other distribution systems.

  • Provides input on products and services that will serve customer needs and produce sufficient volume and profits.

  • Monitors territory activities to assure company objectives are met.

  • Visits visit key producer offices on a regular basis.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Sales Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in business, finance, communications or liberal arts preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 or 7, Series 63, State Life/Annuity Insurance Agent licenses required. CLU, ChFC, FLMI, CFP, ASPPA designations preferred. Associates must acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Five years internal or external wholesaling experience of financial service products through broker dealer firms.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: College-level mathematics, finance, statistics, economics, economics and investment management theories/practices.

Very strong interpersonal and written skills to effectively interact directly with company officers, top brokers, home office and outside business partners. Excellent group presentation skills for audiences of company owners, officers, principals, executive boards and financial intermediaries up to 200 people. Ability to effectively teach state continuing education courses to industry professionals. Basic Microsoft office usage skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Seibel CRM. Excellent time management and organizational skills required to manage statewide sales activities and multiple sales/distribution relationships (independent administrators and financial intermediaries).

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the business unit Vice President and HR Business Partner.

Job Conditions:

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).

Working Conditions: Virtual work from home sales office environment, living in assigned territory. Requires frequent field travel and may require overnight travel.
