Can you identify areas for improvement within billing operations and implement strategic initiatives? We’re looking for a Senior Billing Operations Specialist to join us at Thinkific.

You will be analyzing billing data to gain actionable insights and lead projects related to billing operations. These efforts will result in improving the efficiency of billing operations with respect to reducing time and resources needed to run the billing function. Reporting to the Billing Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with various Thinkific teams including (but not limited to) our Data teams, Support teams, Products teams, and Finance teams.

Your goal will be to identify and execute opportunities to make Thinkific’s billing operations more efficient. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:

  • Create analyses (ad hoc and recurring reports) to shed light on the nature of Thinkific’s billing function and create metrics around these with the use of dashboards in Looker or Salesforce or other tools
  • Lead projects to improve billing efficiency and accuracy
  • Document billing and related processes (eg: create Guru cards)
  • Set up billing accounts for Plus customers and collecting on delinquent accounts
  • Challenge credit card chargebacks
  • Respond to Zendesk tickets and provide billing help on Slack channels and Asana tickets
  • Lead inter-department trainings as needed
  • Troubleshoot and fix monthly recurring revenue (MRR) and other billing-related reporting gaps
  • Be an escalation point for issues related to: Stripe operations/functioning, billing data, inconsistencies and billing master data management, sales tax, revenue recognition, payment processing, and complex billing requests

The person we have in mind likely:

  • Has 2+ years of experience in a billing support, analyst role or similar
  • Demonstrates a history of accountability for projects and an understanding of how to make projects successful
  • Possesses strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Uses their analytical mindset to identify cost- or time-saving measures specific to software subscriptions
  • Has experience using BI tools and analyzing large amounts of data
  • Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:

  • Knowledge of revenue accounting in a SaaS environment
  • Experience using Stripe Billing and Stripe Payments
  • Advanced-level Excel skills

The recruitment compensation range for this position is $66,000 - $82,000 CAD
