Bluepoint is seeking a best-in-class Sr. Character Animator to join our team! Do you love collaborating with talented developers to build genre-defining games? Join us as we embark on a new journey!

The Gameplay Animator helps the overall project vision by breathing life into our creatures, characters, and game world. They have practical experience of prototyping, developing, and implementing combat, locomotion, and other gameplay animations, and can effectively balance aesthetic goals with technical constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create high quality gameplay animation utilizing motion capture and key-framing techniques.

  • Mentor and support other team members.

  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and other animators to solve gameplay problems while maintaining artistic vision. Works well in a team-oriented environment.

  • Contribute to the creative process with original ideas and inspiration.

  • Be able to give constructive feedback about animation tools.

  • Address feedback from the leads and directors in a timely manner, communicating time needed and understanding of the feedback given.

  • Research, analyze, and shoot reference as needed to plan for the assignment.

  • Work with the Project Manager/Coordinator and Leads to understand, plan for, and convey project needs and scope of work.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • A strong demo reel that demonstrates expert knowledge of fundamental animation principles and acting skills, and the ability to create a full range of lifelike performances from the subtle to the dramatic and powerful.

  • Great depth of knowledge in keyframe animation.

  • Expert knowledge of Autodesk Maya, and animation and motion capture workflows.

  • At least 5 years of experience in games industry.

  • The ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with all team members and within group settings.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to break down tasks and assignments and prioritize them into workable pieces on a daily, weekly, and project length basis.

  • Work independently and conscientiously with minimal supervision.
