We are looking for a Senior Commissions Accountant who will be responsible for managing and overseeing the accurate and timely calculation, tracking, and reporting of commissions for sales personnel within the organization.

You’ll be working with your manager, our Corporate Controller, to achieve the goals of the Accounting team! This role requires expertise in commission structures, accounting processes, and financial analysis. The Senior Commissions Accountant will collaborate with sales teams, finance, and HR departments to ensure that commission payments align with company policies and individual/team sales performance.

What You'll Do:

Commission Calculation & Tracking:

  • Oversee and manage the accurate calculation and timely disbursement of commissions for sales team and other commission-based employees.
  • Reconcile commission-related accounts to ensure accuracy in payments and commission calculations.
  • Maintain accurate commission records in accounting software and spreadsheets.

Data Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual commission reports, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of commission payments.
  • Provide detailed explanations and breakdowns of commission calculations to stakeholders as needed.
  • Coordinate with the sales and finance departments to resolve any discrepancies related to commission calculations.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure that all commission calculations are in compliance with company policies, compensation plans, and relevant legal requirements.
  • Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving any issues related to commission payments.
  • Maintain proper documentation of commission agreements, policies, and procedures.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the efficiency of commission calculation processes.
  • Recommend improvements to commission structures and systems to better align with company goals and performance metrics.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for any commission-related inquiries from sales representatives, managers, and HR.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure commission expenses are accurately recorded in financial statements.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting of commission expenses as part of the overall financial planning process.

Training & Development:

  • Provide training to new hires and sales teams on commission structures and payment processes.
  • Continuous development and training of commissions software tool and industry-specific best practices that may be applied to further support commission plans and sales team.

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency and familiarity with commission-based software tools (preferably Performio)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex commission structures to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive compensation and financial information with discretion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 2 years focused on commissions, payroll, or incentive compensation.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Intacct, NetSuite) and commission tracking tools (e.g., Performio, Xactly, CaptivateIQ, or similar).

Nice to Have:

  • At least 2 years working in SaaS, software, or technology industry preferred, but not required
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred, but not required
