Function:
Reporting to the Director of Accounting Operations, the Senior Grants Accountant is responsible for the ownership of the accounting for Fenway’s Grants Portfolio, leadership of the grants accounting team (2 Grants Accountants will report to this role), administration of the Oracle Grants Module, and maintaining building relationships w/ the Grants Managers and related departments.
Representative Duties:
Grants Portfolio Oversight
- Ownership of the accounting for Fenway’s grants portfolio (Federal, State, and Private) including:
- Ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual preparation and submission of invoices and reports (FFR), to include calculation of program income are completed
- Interfacing with funder personnel to resolve any issues
- Following up with funders to ensure timely collection of receivables and review aged AR
Accounting and Financial Management
- Working with finance, compliance, accounting, and other grants staff to:
- Prepare timely and accurate journal entries and reconciliations
- Ensure compliance and adherence to GAAP, Uniform Administrative Guidance Title 2 CFR 200, and other funder specific regulations
- Working with Grants Managers, Program Managers, and related departments to ensure contract and program related activities align to support grant accounting and reporting
- Monitor and analyze grant and contract financial results for spend-down and compliance
- Indirect cost analysis and proposal of updated rates for all grants
- Preparing for and leading grant financial audits and site visits
- Primary administrator of the Oracle Grants Module where the grants portfolio accounting is managed
Supervisory
- Two Grant Accountants will report directly to this role
- Provide ongoing training, development, coaching, performance management, and opportunities for growth
- Determine staffing plans that promote the most effective use of both teammates
- Ensures that staff receive a comprehensive program orientation
- Trains staff regarding the full range of their responsibilities
- Provides ongoing guidance and supervision to assigned staff
- Provides yearly written evaluations of assigned staff following agency evaluation guidelines
- Makes employment-related decisions regarding assigned staff within the scope of defined authority and following established agency and program guidelines

- Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested

- Attends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings
- Attends all regularly scheduled research meetings, trainings, forums and pertinent FCH staff meetings
- Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
- Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested
Performs other related duties as required
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Established knowledge base in federal grant financial requirements and systems

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (active CPA license)
- General understanding of Oracle Fusion ERP and/or EPM
- General understanding of project management fundamentals and tools
- Experience with not-for-profits and healthcare
