The Senior Medical Director, Complex Care performs the function of providing clinical oversight and people leader for the Care and Case Management (CCM), Utilization Management (UM) and Targeted Care Navigation (TCN) programs. In partnership with Senior Leadership and in line with the corporate agenda, the Senior Medical Director sets a 2-3 year strategic vision for their product / services and coaches and mentors their leaders and clinical teams to execute against it in a way that drives outcomes. Seeks opportunities for alignment and partnership with clinical peers, supporting clinical integration and innovation.
Ultimately accountable for sponsoring service lines that:~ Deliver safe, high quality, efficient clinical services that improve health outcomes for engaged individuals~ Deliver a clinical experience that drives appropriate re-engagement with IH, especially among highest value members~ Attract and retain a diverse, top pool of clinicians and talent that align with company vision and goals
Creatively uses data to inform decisions, where available, but also uses content knowledge, stakeholder input, and experience to guide decisions in its absence.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Communication - Serves as the voice of the service line in internal meetings and key external conversations, translating day-to-day work into themes, priorities, and narrative. Increasingly seeks, though, to represent the broader CHO perspective in conversations, understanding the seams and nuances between services and identifying themes across. Creates realistic optimism in messaging, despite challenges and opportunities.
- Product Strategy and Design - Partners with Product, Care, General Managers, and other stakeholders on key program strategy and design features to ensure the service line is optimized for clinical outcomes, member experience, scale, and provider experience. Serves as a champion of individual service line(s), but actively seeks opportunities to reduce seams between teams and services and find common themes and wins.
- Clinical Quality (QA/QI) and Peer Review - Partners with the Clinical Quality Team to ensure that QA efforts and operational processes support the delivery of safe, high-quality clinical care on their service lines. Serves as a voice for clinical quality and patient safety in broader interactions on behalf of CHO.Clinical
- Affairs Support - Represents products and services in external meetings with prospects and clients, engaging in tactical and strategic discussions around program improvement and innovation.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Quality technical skills and a high level of proficiency with Google Suite
- Adhere to legal and ethical requirements and company policies and procedures
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

- Staying up-to-date with continuing education including knowledge of evidence-based psychosocial interventions and psychiatric medications
- A current unrestricted clinical license
Education and Experience:
- Be a licensed Physician or Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the medical board of their state
- Active and unrestricted state medical / clinical license in at least one state
- 10+ years professional experience
- 4+ years professional post-residency experience in direct patient care
- 7+ years experience in an upper management or executive role leading fellow clinicians
- Overnight business travel required - less than 20% of time
Zone A: $219,600 - $310,190 + equity + benefits

Starting base salary for the successful candidate will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include, but not limited to, education; training; skill set; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; business needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and alignment with geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and competitive compensation based on their roles and locations. In addition to earning a base salary, this role is eligible for a performance-based bonus. Details of the Annual Bonus Plan, including performance metrics, target incentives, and potential earnings, will be discussed during the interview process.
