Job Description

Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will work closely with other members of the Lease Accounting and Construction Accounting teams, and reports to the Associate Director of Property Accounting.

Lease Accounting

  • Review ProLease data input for accuracy and completeness to support compliance with ASC 842
  • Review and reconcile Lease accounting schedules generated by ProLease, and prepare monthly journal entries to support compliance with ASC 842 Lease Accounting
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all Lease related accounts
  • Prepare year-end workpapers, schedules, roll-forwards, and other audit documentation
  • Act as liaison with auditors; respond to queries and performing walk-throughs

Construction Accounting

  • Act as primary back-up to Senior Construction Accountant
  • Prepare reconciliations or review reconciliations for construction related accounts

Unsecured/Business Property Taxes and Business Licenses

  • Create/maintain a tracking system to ensure timely returns and renewals for all US locations
  • Retrieve required information from Sage Intacct and prepare returns and license renewals
  • Prepare related accruals and amortizations
  • Reconcile related balance sheet accounts monthly, and prepare year-end audit schedules

Skills

We would love to talk to you if you have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or a related field, ideally in a multi-entity company
  • Mastery of accounting fundamentals, including a strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience administering ASC 842, preparing monthly journal entries and related reconciliations
  • Experience preparing audit support schedules and working with external auditors
  • Rigorous attention to detail and great organizational skills to manage business tax and license filings for all locations nationwide
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to work independently and to create and document new procedures and continuously improve existing procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to assess a situation and solve using Excel, Sage Intacct, and/or other tools
