About the team:

This position is part of a dynamic backend team in HubSpot's Discovery product group, this group is tasked with the mission of helping customers find relevant information quickly across HubSpot. The specific responsibilities of this role include developing and scaling the critical backend systems like Notifications and Navigation platforms. Teams in HubSpot are kept small and nimble to maximize ownership and to eliminate scale challenges and communication overhead (e.g. very few meetings that could have been a Slack message!).

As a Sr Software Engineer, you will:

  • Write and ship production code that has meaningful user and business impact
  • Envision, build and analyze new features and tools, each contributing to company growth and revenue
  • Work with a small, customer-driven development teams of 3-5 engineers.
  • Collaborate with HubSpotters all over the company, whether in engineering, product, design, research, etc
  • Help HubSpot users meet their goals, via changes you’ve made
  • Implement features that give us valuable insights into user behavior and how to improve their experience

You may be a fit if:

  • You have strong backend development experience. We work with Java, MySQL, AWS, DropWizard, Kafka and Kubernetes primarily, but experience with specific technologies is secondary to understanding programming fundamentals.
  • Have a passion for writing code and reading code.
  • You have a strong focus on the user. You can gain empathy for their challenges and understand how they may flow through our product.
  • You not only get excited about big, technical challenges, but also about being very close to the business and our go-to-market strategies.
