EdgeTier is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers building and maintaining a Python and React web application. This will be an exciting role for an Engineering Manager who wants to continue doing technical work and be involved in the design and implementation of new features within our platform.
You will be doing:
Working with the Product team to scope new features—discussing the feasibility of upcoming features, designing high-level architectural changes, helping define approximate estimates for work involved etc.
Meeting clients to discuss issues, feature requests, and configuration/setup of their system.
Facilitating sprints—running sprint start/end meetings, retrospectives, standups, and planning meetings.
Planning, organising, and helping with releases.
Reviewing pull requests.
Helping unblock the team when issues arise.
Writing code when needed.
Making sure our Support function is correctly staffed to handle client issues/bugs.

Planning and architecting new features: 25%

Client engagement (meetings, emails, Slack etc.): 15%
Internal meetings (removing blockers, helping team members test/deploy etc.): 15%

Meeting/mentoring/hiring team members (team management responsibilities): 5%
About you:
Have 3 years+ experience as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead (managing people)
Experience working with and meeting clients.
8+ years working in software development.
5+ years of professional Python experience.
Strong database knowledge (Postgres preferable).
Are deeply curious and like solving problems.
Enjoy working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have
Full stack experience (e.g. React)
AWS experience—RDS, EC2 etc.

Take home assessment (to complete in your own time).
Final interview - we’ll walk through your task and ask you to make some changes live on the call. (80-120 mins)
