Position Description

Origis is seeking a Project Engineer or Manager whose primary responsibility will be to lead all Project Engineering efforts and optimization at the pre-construction and construction phases. These efforts will support EPC contracting and initiation of project financing. This individual, reporting to the Senior Director of Project Engineering, will be a dedicated resource on our utility solar and battery storage projects nationwide.

The Project Engineer or Manager is a regular, full-time position, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Primary

  • Lead and manage “in-house” late-stage development solar design (up to 30%)
    • Manage external Design Engineering consultants during “in-house” 30% design.
    • Coordinate internal technical disciplines (civil, HV, BESS) and inputs from other teams (Development, Technology, etc.)
    • Lead project design optimization around DC:AC ratio, Ground Coverage Ratio (GCR), LCOE, Constructability.
  • Manage and guide Owner Engineers (OE) throughout 30%, 60%, 90%, IFC designs and RFIs from EPC contractor in support of Origis’ EPC team.
  • Manage assembly of technical scope documents to support EPC bidding and early-stage financing
  • Work with the Finance team to align designs around project financial structures
  • Work closely with the Development team(s) to understand off-taker/utility needs
  • Support early-stage technical discussions with IEs

Secondary

  • Evaluate early-stage risks/opportunities impact on design, energy yield, and cost
  • Lead technical initiatives and adoption of technologies on projects
  • Refine and maintain Origis design standards and technical specifications
  • Evaluate forward looking and innovative approaches for best in market design, technology, and cost/construction considerations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external Owner's Engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in utility scale PV and Energy Storage design
  • Experience optimizing designs and maximizing values of utility scale solar projects
  • Knowledge of all PV technical disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, DC, AC, HV, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of PV cost stack and how design considerations impact project LCOE throughout the development process
  • Ability to effectively communicate between technical and commercial minded team members
  • PV design and constructability experience in multiple geographic regions
  • Battery storage experience preferred but not required

Travel Up to 20% travel required as necessary
