Job Summary

The Senior Life Reinsurance Analyst – Special Projects will actively participate and lead select Life Reinsurance Special Projects, as well as participate in a variety of reinsurance modernization and other operational activities.

The Senior Life Reinsurance Analyst – Special Projects will report to the Director, Life Reinsurance Special Projects. This position will collaborate with both the Life, Reinsurance business-as-usual team as well as various departments across the Company including Financial Reporting, Actuarial, Information Technology, Financial Operations, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide timely, relevant and accurate reporting and analysis to facilitate decision making for various levels of management throughout the organization.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems, requiring the regular use of ingenuity and creativity, within the larger context of the business needs and objectives.
  • Serve as special projects liaison for third party reinsurance partners.
  • Participate in corporate modernization and financial operation transformation projects as deemed necessary.
  • Participate in the design of internal controls related to Life Special Project activities.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for Senior Management regarding reinsurance modernization activities.
  • Perform quality assurance or user acceptance testing for key reinsurance modernization efforts.
  • Participate in the systems setup of new life reinsurance arrangements.
  • Participate in the assessment of potential reinsurance system upgrades.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing for key reinsurance modernization efforts.
  • Proactively engage in knowledge sharing, peer training, and documentation.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years in Life reinsurance operations and information technology.
  • Financial systems knowledge and familiarity with databases and complex excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of TAI and / or other reinsurance applications.
  • Reinsurance, insurance or financial services experienced preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional reinsurance administration and operations skills.
  • Deep knowledge of reinsurance administration for life insurance companies
  • Excellent analytic skills and detail oriented.
  • SQL and Alteryx querying experience preferred.
  • Highly motivated and demonstrated ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with others.
  • Experience analyzing and understanding key data.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks/projects to meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Other Requirements

  • Perform other functions, duties and projects, as assigned
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Some travel may be required (less than 15%)
