About this role
The Senior Manager, Chemical Compliance will provide support to Business Units, Operations, and customers through leadership and implementation of product chemical processes and practices to ensure chemical regulatory compliance for Carrier’s products. This individual will drive the chemical process safety and management programs coordinating with functional and operational teams globally to achieve best in class performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate, and implement Carrier product chemical compliance and chemical management standards, and systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Implement all aspects of process safety management for Operations globally, including compliance with applicable regulations.
- Coordinating hazard identification, risk assessment, process safety performance monitoring and auditing, and incident investigation for chemicals used in Carrier Operations.
- Understands global chemical regulatory issues and trends. Consults with internal stakeholders to define risk mitigating actions, impacts to business strategy to commercialize new products and to maintain existing business.
- Ensures that appropriate global chemical compliance training is provided to key business stakeholders (e.g., engineering, supply chain, plant personnel).
- Partners with stakeholders in responding to customer product chemical compliance requests.
- Facilitate all government agency interactions on chemical compliance inquiries.
- Support all business integrations as the subject matter expert on product chemical compliance and chemical management activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of experience in Heath, Safety and Environment (HSE)
- 5+ years of global experience in product chemical regulations, chemical management, or hazard communication
Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environment, Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Science based discipline
- Previous experience in global chemical regulatory compliance. (GHS, REACH, RoHS, US EPA TSCA, California Prop 65, etc.)
- Experience in PSM in an industrial environment
- Experience in developing, writing, and implementing Process Safety Management plans, and standard operating procedures.
- Experience developing and evaluating/auditing PSM management systems and advising management at all levels of the organization to effect positive change to operational excellence.
- Previous experience in pesticidal / biocidal regulations (US FIFRA, etc.)
- Previous experience implementing global chemical management program.
- Proven ability to influence and work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in strategy development, process execution, and critical issue closure across business unit and operational functions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal across a wide audience. This includes the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and effectively manage a large quantity of ambiguous, complex work using a risk-based approach
- Demonstrated ability to identify and drive continuous improvement efforts
- Excellent writing, presentation, decision making, influencing and negotiation skills
- Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
- Master’s degree
