We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Revenue to lead our revenue recognition and reporting functions. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of GAAP, particularly ASC 606, along with the expertise to manage a high-performing team, drive process improvements, and partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate and efficient revenue accounting operations. This role is critical to scaling our business and providing strategic insights to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Recognition and Month-End Close:
- Lead the month-end close process for revenue and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review financial close journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and fluctuation explanations.
- Oversee the application of ASC 606 principles to all revenue streams and ensure compliance.
- Present revenue-related information to executives in a clear and actionable manner
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner extensively with Technical Revenue, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, GL Accounting, Product Management, Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, Enterprise Systems, Data Engineering, Legal, Professional Services, and Sales teams to align on revenue objectives and strategies.
- Evaluate new product introductions or upstream process changes for impacts on revenue accounting processes and activities.
Process Improvement and Systems Management:
- Proactively identify opportunities for both large and small process improvements, propose solutions, and drive implementation.
- Enhance the company’s NetSuite ARM (Advanced Revenue Management) implementation to increase automation, reporting capabilities, and efficiency.
- Design, implement, and perform controls related to revenue.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and develop a global workforce, fostering collaboration across multiple regions and time zones.
- Hire, mentor, and develop the Revenue Accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance on technical accounting matters and promote professional growth within the team.
Forecasting and Strategic Reporting:
- Collaborate on the revenue forecast process in partnership with FP&A, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports, providing insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA required).
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in Big 4 audit and leadership roles in a SaaS or technology environment.
- Expertise in ASC 606.
- Deep knowledge of NetSuite ARM.
- Significant experience improving revenue accounting processes.
- Prior experience growing a remote Accounts Receivable team.
- Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable rolling up sleeves and getting into the details.
