Job Description: Test Engineer (Automation)

Overview
Simpplr is seeking a skilled and passionate Test Engineer (Automation) to join our team, with the flexibility to work remotely or from our Gurugram office. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the performance, reliability, and quality of our innovative intranet software, which is redefining how companies engage and connect with their employees. You’ll collaborate with a global team of talented engineers, designers, and researchers passionate about building a world-class application.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning and Execution:
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and cases for new and existing features, covering both manual and automated testing.
- Ensure complete coverage of requirements in test cases and collaborate with development teams to clarify features and requirements.
Automated Testing:
- Develop, write, and maintain robust automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber BDD or other relevant frameworks.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub workflows to ensure continuous quality validation.
- Continuously enhance the automation framework, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
Agile Collaboration:
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint grooming, planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features in iterative cycles.
Defect Tracking and Quality Metrics:
- Identify, log, and track defects to resolution using tools like JIRA and Zephyr.
- Collect and report on quality metrics to drive process improvements and pinpoint areas for enhanced testing.
Ownership and Accountability:
- Take full ownership of testing deliverables within projects, from planning through execution to release.
- Provide guidance to the QA team by assigning tasks, reviewing test cases, and mentoring junior members.
- Advocate for testing best practices across the team and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of industrial experience in software quality assurance, with a minimum of 3 years in automation testing.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Java (Core Java) and experience with the Cucumber BDD framework (writing Gherkin scenarios).
- Strong knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, and frameworks like JUnit/TestNG.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub workflows.
- Capability to manually test applications and write manual test cases in BDD (Gherkin) format.
- Strong knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman or JMeter.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with great attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Nice-to-Have:
- Exposure to performance testing or security testing tools and practices.
- Certifications in quality assurance or agile practices (e.g., ISTQB, CSM).
