It's with that in mind that Beyond is looking to add a VP of Legal to our growing team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will play a crucial role in shaping and overseeing the company’s legal policies and strategies on a global scale, ensuring we mitigate risks and comply with legal standards. Your expertise will guide our legal processes, driving growth and facilitating valuable insights.

As our VP of Legal, you'll be responsible for:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including data protection and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), intellectual property laws, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations, initiatives, and employment matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts—including customer, vendor, and partner agreements—to secure favorable terms and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Oversee corporate governance and administration for Beyond and its subsidiaries, both domestically and internationally, managing local filings, business licenses, and corporate records.
  • Manage litigation matters, coordinating with outside counsel as necessary, and effectively handling legal disputes to minimize liability and reputational risk.
  • Create and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and promote best practices across the organization.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues, including employment documents, disciplinary actions, benefits, policy compliance, and employment-related claims.
  • Manage the company’s equity program, including cap table maintenance, equity structure evaluations, and preparation of option documents.
  • Support strategic initiatives such as fundraising and MA transactions, providing legal expertise throughout the process.

Now that we’ve told you what the job looks like, here are the qualifications we're looking for in a candidate:

  • 8-10 years of experience practicing corporate law, with substantial experience managing legal matters in a high-growth environment and global responsibilities.
  • Juris Doctor Degree required from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. State bar.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex legal concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience working with high-growth, venture-backed startups, showcasing an understanding of the unique legal challenges they face.
