About the team & opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned leader to build and lead a newly conceived Research and Insights team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role offers a unique opportunity to stand up a research function that delivers actionable qualitative and quantitative insights to inform strategic decision making and shape the future of Calendly.
In addition to working directly with our CEO and Executive Team, this role requires collaboration across all functions (i.e. R&D, GTM, and G&A) to cascade learnings from your team’s research efforts.
On a typical day, you will be working on:
- Build and lead a team of researchers with expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Design and execute comprehensive research programs, including customer and market research.
- Communicate research findings to stakeholders and integrate them into strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Provide thought leadership and guidance on translating research findings into actionable business strategies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to ensure the company remains at the forefront of research innovation.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and pragmatism in driving research initiatives and delivering timely insights.
What do we need from you?
- Advanced degree (PhD, Master's, or equivalent) in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Customer Research, Market Research, or a related field, or relevant functional experience.
- Extensive experience leading research functions in a Product-Led Growth (PLG) company, a consumer / b2b software company, and/or within a management consulting context.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Executive presence with the ability to influence and drive change at the highest levels of the organization.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in multidisciplinary research methods such as contextual inquiries, cognitive walkthroughs, heuristic evaluations, usability benchmarking, RITE studies, participatory design techniques, and both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Strong understanding of product development, design methodologies, software development, and statistical analysis.
- Experience with mixed methods research a plus

The ranges listed below are the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Calendly takes a number of factors into consideration when determining an employee’s starting salary, including relevant experience, relevant skills sets, interview performance, location/metropolitan area, and internal pay equity.
Base salary is just one component of Calendly’s total rewards package. All full-time (30 hours/week) employees are also eligible for our Quarterly Corporate Bonus program (or Sales incentive), equity awards, and competitive benefits.
Calendly uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location, or the onsite building location if hybrid, to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current geographic zones are as follows:
- Tier 1: San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, New York City, NY
- Tier 2: Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and all other cities in CA.
- Tier 3: All other locations not in Tier 1 or Tier 2
