We are on the lookout for a dedicated and knowledgeable Work Health and Safety Advisor to join our team. This position is WFH on a permanent full-time basis with frequent travel to our sites in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.

The position:

Reporting to Health and Safety Manager, you will provide advice, guidance and management on all matters relating to Health, Safety & Wellbeing to ensure a safe and healthy workplace and enable compliance with local regulations and standards. This position is remote, however, will require regular travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of appropriate safety standards.
  • Identify, develop, and implement new WHS policies, practices and programs.
  • Collaborating with the WHS Manager and Return to Work Coordinator to identify incident trends, reduce areas of risk and develop preventative programs.
  • General WHS duties such as reporting, incident investigations, trend management, risk assessments, workplace site inspections, developing safety procedures, and hazard management.
  • Lead the implementation of a work Health and Safety Management System that identifies risks and implement controls and apply responsibilities to WHS actions.
  • Produces a suite of data and analytics to report on safety performance and improve monthly based on insights, recommendations, and actions.
  • Construct and manage annual improvement plans for WHS and implement in conjunction with departmental management teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on establishing root cause analysis and provide training, education, and management to advise the root cause.
  • Develop and conduct training programs on Health & Safety, and Wellbeing.
  • Help shape a safety culture that influences the collection of beliefs, perceptions and values that employees share in relation to safety.

  • Demonstrated leadership and embedding of safety culture and behaviours.
  • Clear transparency and accountability for nominated managers.
  • Reduction in workplace injuries.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (minimum Certificate IV) or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring WHS policies, procedures and safe systems of work;
  • Solid and well-established experience in safety.
  • Experienced in dealing with external stakeholders such as regulatory and local authorities.
  • Risk management, mitigation, and communication experience & skills.
  • Proven track record in delivering results in complex environments is essential.

Desirable:

  • Project management knowledge and experience is highly desirable.
