The Red Hat Safety and Security team is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Technician to join us in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In this role, you will serve as an individual contributor responsible for the internal consulting and as a trusted advisor for the company’s environmental health and safety programs. You will accomplish it through direction, oversight, and policy development for all regulatory environment,l health, and safety program development, training, consultation with regional leads, project support, and major safety-related initiatives for risk mitigation for associates, property, and reputation.
What you will do:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations in Brazil and other LATAM locations regarding the occupational health of our associates.
Develop, maintain, and support environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures with structured audits and consultation to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership and direction to internal stakeholders and Red Hat’s associates to evaluate, identify, and reduce the risk of loss through the application of health, safety, and environmental principles and knowledge of laws and regulations.
Conduct or coordinate reviews of follow-up expectations and activities as appropriate; track corrective items on agreed-upon timelines to closure.
Guide prevention and risk reduction programs to improve safety and health programs.
Provide periodic communication to management on the direction and effectiveness of health and safety programs through operational metrics.
Benchmark other company health and safety practices, programs, and structures and review other available techniques and programs to ensure continuous improvement of health and safety programs.
Perform regular site inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Review and develop the Health and Safety Management Plan and communicate it at all levels.
Prepare and coordinate the internal EH&S audit and the audit process. Monitor whether the audit recommendations are being implemented within the agreed timescales.
Maintain the risk register and ensure that risk assessments are completed for all activities with significant risks.
Maintain documentation and records as required by law.
Any other tasks assigned by the manager that are deemed necessary for this role.
What you will bring:
Must have the ability to read, write and speak English
Must have the ability to read, write and speak Portuguese.
Preferred ability to read, write and speak Spanish
4-year degree or international equivalent in an area of study relevant to this position; 5+years of experience working in multicultural companies within various geographical regions.
3 years of experience working in a corporate environment, preferably in the software engineering or service industry.
Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent understanding of a variety of geographical environmental health and safety regulatory compliance areas.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and train subject matter experts in safety practices and processes.
Ability to work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires deep knowledge of organizational objectives.
Experience establishing and assuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work with company-sensitive or confidential information and materials Comprehensive understanding of the principle of operating in a need-to-know environment and the ramifications of mishandling company-sensitive or confidential information.
Willingness to travel up to 25% globally.
